Why We Recommend It:
It’s a luxury resort – though technically a 4-star it can certainly outdo many 5-star resorts – and it has consistently strong reviews to back that up.
There are 750 bright and colorful suites here in total but even in high season, though always lively, it never really feels too packed.
The resort covers a large area so everyone has plenty of space and its stretch of beach at Uvero Alto is nicely uncrowded.
Among its many facilities are various swimming pools, whirlpools, and a lazy river; full spa and gym facilities; numerous bars and restaurants, both buffet and a la carte; a theater; a casino; and daily and nightly entertainment.
Rooms & Suites:
Your accommodation choices at Breathless Punta Cana are between swim-up suites, junior suites, and master suites.
The junior suites come with a view of either the gardens, the pool, or at least a partial ocean view, while the master suites are all oceanfront.
They are all spacious and very nicely furnished and decorated, and all have balconies (or terraces in the case of the swim-ups) kitted out with a hot tub/jacuzzi.
Upon booking you’ll be given a choice between the standard all-inclusive package or Xhale Club Membership. The club package is nearly 100 dollars extra a day but you get the VIP treatment, described as follows by resort management:
Personalized check-in and check-out with concierge.
Daily continental breakfast service.
Afternoon hot and cold hors d’oeuvres.
Exquisite desserts and premium liquors.
VIP host service.
Private restaurant for breakfast and lunch.
Access to exclusive private lounges and pools.
Pool concierge and bar service.
Upgraded bath amenities.
Food, Facilities & Things to Do:
They have eleven dining venues at Breathless Punta Cana, eight of them a la carte. Food choices include Pan-Asian, Italian, French, Mexican, Criollo, Middle Eastern, steakhouse, and good ol’ burgers and fries etc.
They have eight bars in total, one of them exclusively for Xhale Club Members. The two pool bars are swim-up and there is also a beach bar.
These close in the evening when the action tends to move towards the main lobby cocktail bar and the sports bar.
It’s a lively scene but things close up relatively early – the sports bar closing last of all at 1 am. The resort has 24-hour room service though.
You’ll find nightly and daily entertainment all around the resort, including pool parties and theme nights. There is a nice theater with a theater bar and a small casino.
The spa treatments at their Pavonia Spa are highly regarded but are not included in the all-inclusive package.
They have fourteen single-treatment and six double-treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna, steam room, and beauty salon.
The fitness center next door is top notch too, and you can play tennis, paddle ball, beach volleyball, and pool, with both golf and horseback riding available nearby for an extra charge.
All-inclusive water sports include kayaking, windsurfing, Hobie Cats, and snorkeling. Scuba diving lessons and motorized water sports are available off-site for an extra fee.
There are four swimming pools at Breathless, including a lazy river, and four hot tubs, though all guests also have private hot tubs in their suites.
Breathless Punta Cana is by the gorgeous golden sands of Uvero Alto Beach, about forty minutes north of Punta Cana Airport. Shuttles services can be arranged by the resort for a reasonable fee.
