Why We Recommend It:
Zoëtry Villa Rolandi is a boutique 5 Star all-inclusive on Cancun’s Isla Mujeres built in 2015 to compliment one of The Riviera Maya’s most esteemed restaurants: the Swiss-Italian Casa Rolandi.
It attracts a barefoot chic, upmarket crowd, and the atmosphere is quiet and calm – people very much come here to relax and unwind.
With only 35 suites it is also remarkably small for an all-inclusive resort making it feel even more exclusive still.
Among its facilities are three pools, the famous Casa Rolandi restaurant plus one other quality French-Mexican fusion eatery, a cozy bar, an extensive wine cellar, a made-to-order jewelry center, spa facilities, and a fitness center.
Zoëtry Villa Rolandi is technically family friendly but really doesn’t seem to have much in the way of children’s activities.
The overwhelming majority of guests are adults anyway, and the majority of them couples on romantic breaks.
Rooms & Suites:
It has 35 suites of various categories, all of them with ocean views. They are broadly similar in all but size, ranging from 450 square feet to over 2000 square feet in the case of their fabulous Presidential Suite, and the vast majority of them are doubles.
On the ground floor, you have the Junior Suite Veranda Oceanfronts. Just upstairs are the Junior Suite Oceanfronts and, above them again and with better views again, are the Junior Suite Superior Oceanfronts. The latter two have a hot tub on their private terrace.
The multi-level Presidential Suite then sits at the very top. It has an enormous terrace and extra amenities such as a sauna, an outdoor shower and a bar.
The top-level suites are of course lovely, as they are in most resorts, at Zoetry Casa Rolandi but remember that minimum standards are very high:
All accommodation comes with canopied king-size beds, opulent bathrooms with jacuzzis, steam showers, and Bvlgari bath products, indoor lounging areas, and, in all but the Veranda Suites, private terraces with outdoor hot tubs, satellite TV, 24-hour room service, pillow menus, blackout curtains/blinds, free minibars and coffee makers as standard.
Food, Facilities & Things to Do:
As mentioned Zoetry Isla Mujeres was built, in 2015, to complement the Casa Rolandi Restaurant. For decades it has been the most famous restaurant on the island and sees its share of celebrity guests (as does the accommodation).
It is fine dining but in a charmingly casual atmosphere. The cuisine is Swiss Italian and comes mainly from the restaurant’s traditional brick oven.
The other, less famous, restaurant is a more formal venue. It is the open-kitchen concept Le Metissage. It has a huge wine collection and an interesting Mexican-French fusion menu.
All-inclusive guests at Zoetry have all food and drink, except for certain premium wines, included, and you can also enjoy them in the privacy of your suite via room service.
The all-inclusive program also includes one free twenty-minute Thalassotherapy, or other, spa treatment, full gym access, yoga classes, snorkeling, kayaking and paddle-boarding (scuba diving and motorized water sports are extra), and a free shuttle to and from Cancun by private yacht.
Zoetry Villa Rolandi has three pools, one of which is a Thalasso seawater pool and one of which is adults only, sitting side by side with lovely views, infinity style, over the sea.
The beach here is small but lovely. It is one of the very few private beach spaces in Cancun, is clean and dreamily calm, and has lovely views of Cancun across the bay.
Zoetry Villa Rolandi is at the center of Isla Mujeres, between the central lagoon and the sea, just off the coast of Cancun.
The journey from Cancun International Airport to the port serving Isla Mujeres takes about 30 minutes by taxi or transfer. From the port guests have the pleasure of complimentary yacht transfers directly to the resort.
Some Guest Reviews:
“This was the best hotel we’ve ever been to. The restaurant never had more than 6 or 7 tables at the same time, the entire menu was available for room service until 11pm. We were receiving pool side drinks service until 8pm. VERY quiet, VERY peaceful, VERY relaxing time. We are already saving for our next visit……”
“Our stay at Zoetry was first class! The staff went above and beyond for us. Even when we took a cab to Playa Norte they ran out and offered a cooler with ice and drinks before we left! Anytime we needed anything they were at our room under 10 minutes. The spa was the best service we had ever and resort was gorgeous always super clean. The food was great! One of the restaurants is French which we don’t care much for that type of food but the other restaurant had great food. The ease of booking transportation to the resort from the airport through the front desk was a breeze. One of my guests is pretty picky when it comes to food and service and she was completely blown away. Yeh resort is on the smaller side and meant for people who want peace. If you have a party group and don’t know how to act when drinking, consider staying in Cancun. This resort is super low key and tranquil. 10/10!…..”
